Hello Everyone,

Attached is An Analysis of the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty, the signatories and a map of the Treaty Territory.

There will be an opportunity for our young people to show how much they know about the Treaty at this year’s Lakota Nation Invitational Basketball Tournament (LNI) in December, 2025. Julia Hernandez from Kyle has succeeded in getting a Treaty Knowledge Bowl to be held during LNI. So we need to provide copies of the Treaty to the young people.

However, they also need a little history and to know why it says what it says. As she asked me to participate in this Knowledge Bowl, I didn’t want any young person going into this without really thinking about the Treaty and being able to participate in discussions. That is the reason for this Analysis. It is ‘food for thought.’
